Little Debbie

Yes ladies and gentleman, my husband loves another women..... lady...... well girl! Her name, Little Debbie!! Little Debbie's goal...... to sabotage every diabetic on earth.

When at the end of my pregnancy with our son I told my husband as we were packing our "get up and go bags" that he should bring some snacks. I didn't want him to miss the birth of our first born due to his empty belly! Plus I didn't want greasy hospital food in my room as our son came into the world! So off to walmart we went. While in walmart a glace at our cart and caused a twinge of DKA. It looked like a vending machine had thrown up in our cart. I think David was mistaken, yes it can take a while for a first baby, but I highly doubt I will be in labor for a month. I had one rule as he was cruising down the dangerous snack cake aisle. NO STARCRUNCH. I am not a little Debbie enthusiast, except when it comes to starcrunch. One look at that starry box with the picture of the beautiful chocolaty, chewy whateverness, and rice crispiness and I would be hooked! Especially in the hormonal rage of the 3rd trimester.

So when the time came and we checked into the hospital, we needed a bell boy. We were loaded down with a bag for mommy, a pillow for Mommy, a bag for Daddy, a pillow for Daddy (my man has to have HIS pillow,  a bag for baby, and a very large tote bag filled with you guessed it Debbie! David did excellent!!!! For 20 hours he did not leave the room and he stood by me with ice chips in one hand and an oatmeal cream pie in the other!!!!!!

Pick a finger, any finger

As a diabetic I have a favorite finger to prick. It just so happens to be my middle right finger. Its like a giant FU to diabetes. I don't know why its my favorite, it is just my go to finger. Maybe because its the longest and it just hangs out there more with all of its callouses. I don't know why but it seems like I over prick the fingers on my right hand which is odd to me due to the fact that I am right handed. Wouldn't it be easier to do the lancing with my right hand, and prick a left finger. I hate to do my pinkies, it freaks me out. I like to think that I just don't like picking (or pricking) on the little guys. I wonder if anyone else has fingers preferences?

Hey everybody!!!!

So I have done it I have started a blog! I was inspired by reading everyone else's diabetic blogs and I wanted to get in on the action. I am warning you now! "I am not a writer" I love to read, hate to write! For now I will give you the basics. I was diagnosed with pancreatitis when I was 9, got it again when I was 16. Ended up having my WHOLE, yes the whole thing removed when I was 17. Some doctors kind of have a stunned look on their faces when I say this! Now I must depend on mechanical assistance! I am on the omnipod pump and I am working to get a diabetic alert dog.

I also must tell you about my babies. If I didn't what kind of mother would I be? Alex is 2.5 and my lil stinker. He is a shorty but he doesn't let that get in the way of being sly with the ladies. His favorite place to go is walmart where all the cashiers remember him since he is such a flirt. I also have miss Sophie Belle who is 10 months. She loves any kind of commotion right now and that in includes her very enthusiastic brother. They are my life and I love spending every day at home with them!!!!!! Now for the person that has to put up with me, my loving and supportive husband David, poor guy. He deals with all of my complaints, my highs my lows, and he dealt with two pregnancies where all I did was cry that I was killing our babies when my BG got out out control! We have been married 4 years most of that I think I have been pregnant. That's the lo down on me I will elaborate more on each subject as I go!
